Social counselor for refugee children and women

The Association for Child and Family Empowerment “AVE Copiii” is looking for a Social Counselor for refugee children and women within the “Social, medical and educational assistance and community development to asylum seekers, refugee and beneficiary of humanitarian protection” Project funded by UNHCR.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the oversight of the Project Coordinator and in collaboration with the team, the Social Counselor for refugee children and women shall be responsible for:
o Providing psycho-pedagogical and psycho-social assistance to refugee children and women;
o Delivering socio-educative activities for refugee children and women;
o Performing home visits to project beneficiaries, drafting social reports (case assessments);
o Actively participating in Social Assistance Meetings, including preparing related materials and drafting the minutes of this meetings;
o Actively participating in Project planning, monitoring and evaluation, as well as in planning and delivering the job duties;
o Translating the documents related to the activity area (refuge, asylum seeking, etc.)
o Archiving the documents related to the job, writing monthly activity reports and actively participating to the elaboration of trimestrial and annual Project Reports as well as other related Notes, documents, concept notes, etc.;

PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATE: SOCIO-EDUCATIVE ANIMATOR / SOCIAL ASSISTANT/ PSYCHOLOGISTS
o Sensitivity to the issues of vulnerable children and families and to gender issues;
o Empathy for work in the multidisciplinary team. Dynamism, spirit of cooperation. Solution generating skills;
o Advanced communication skills and capacities to work in a network;
o Commitment for flexible work, objective-oriented. Resistance for work in conditions of stress;
o Advanced organization skills and management of socio-educative activities with children and women;
o Advanced skills for drafting social reports (case assessments);
o Good knowledge of Romanian, Russian and English is compulsory (oral and written). Advanced skills of translation into and from Romanian – Russian - English;
o Good knowledge of the computer: MS Office and Internet Explorer.

STARTING DATE: immediate

EDUCATION:
Compulsory: University Degree in Pedagogy, Psycho-Pedagogy and/or Social Work;
Advantages: Training in children’s rights, socio-educative facilitation, women participation/ empowerment etc.;

EXPERIENCE:
o At least 2 years of professional experience in social work;
o At least 2 years of experience in oral and written translations into and from Romanian – Russian - English;
o Experience in socio-educative animation;
o Experience in women participation/ empowerment etc.

WORK CONDITIONS: INDIVIDUAL WORK CONTRACT - 5 MONTHS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION
