At Bully, the concept artist must be able to quickly and effectively work with the Creative Director to create images that will influence the rest of production. They must have illustrative experience with creating a diverse visual range of characters, environments, architecture, and related assets. A solid grasp of form, structure, color, and light for 2D and 3D art assets is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Create orthographic renderings of characters and props to be used by the 3D modeling team;
- Create primary color and support texture maps for a variety of 3D assets;
- Collaborate with peers, and always look for ways to improve the product.
Requirements:
- Adobe Suite Knowledge with proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator;
- Extensive color theory knowledge;
- Lighting/Mood concept board skills;
- Strong traditional skills in painting and drawing;
- Strong digital drawing and painting skills;
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficient English.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiar with 3D program Maya/Max;
- Familiar with 3D texturing process;
- Familiar with Zbrush;
- Familiar with creating texture maps for games.
Should be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to work in a pipeline with other team members, to hand off "unfinished" work, etc.;
- Able to both give and take constructive critique with grace.
- Understanding of file sizing and structure basics (print size vs web size, etc.);
- Show a variety of styles and solutions to various problems;
- Adheres to naming conventions and file organization.
